As any producer knows, collecting and recording weights and measures on their herd plays a key role in achieving genetic improvement. These measurements are essential for finding the strengths and weaknesses within your own herd. Outside your herd, this data can be used in a genetic evaluation to create EPDs, predictors that allow for comparison of animals across the breed and thus aid in your search for genetics that compliment your herd and goals. The Romagnola office is requesting weights be submitted on your herds for use in upcoming EPD development. Start gathering your calving ease scores, as well birth, weaning and yearling weights.
